This week I have been doing a bit of surfing and looking at some of the new freeware that is out there. Being an organized person is not always easy, especially on the computer. Seems like I want a program to use for everything and never quite come up with the right one. There is alot of freeware or shareware out there if you know where to look. My two favorites are pretty basic, but I will share them with you anyway. They are Tucows and PCWorld and both have ratings of the featured software. Just because they are free, it does not mean they are not great programs. I think I might try out some of the new antivirus and spamware programs, although I am not unhappy with my Avast and Adaware.
I did run into a neat little freeware program, which I am testing out, called Evernote. So far I am rather pleased with it and have started using it to make my grocery list, little reminders and notes of what all I would like to put on my blogspot. It is a nice little organizer for my foggy mind.
For some of you who know me, you know I spend alot of time online ... doing what? Well, when I am not reading the Frugal Living Forum, I might be entertaining myself by putting together a jigsaw puzzle (you will never have to look for lost pieces) or doing a crossword puzzle (you do not have to have a sharp pencil and big eraser).
Of all the sites I have visited over the years Jigzone has the nicest interactive features. It also has a variety of styles of pieces and levels, so it is great for kids and adults. Both sites also have daily puzzles, which I love to do after work to unwind. The crossword site is sponsered by AARP, and has 2 levels of difficulty.

I recently puchased an old wool rug from an antique dealer and it was obvioulsy in storage for a long long time. Any ideas of how to get rid of the musty smell?
Personally, I would sprinkle it with baking soda and rub it around a bit to get it into the fibers evenly, then roll it up and leave it for at least a few days or a week. Then vaccuum it well. Kitty liter sometimes works also. I have had success using charcoal, like that used in aquarium filters, to remove musty smells in old trunks. It absorbs the smell. I do not know if it would work if you sprinkled that on the rug and left it, but it might be worth a try. If it has light colors I would be wary. Let me know how you come out.
